Have You Watched How Your Dog Is Walking?

When you go for walks, pay close attention to your dog’s gait. Gait is a dog’s pattern of walking and changes depending upon how fast your pup is walking. Many dogs undergo natural gait changes as they age. These are usually subtle and progress over time. Abnormal changes to their gait can result from neurologic or orthopedic conditions.  Abnormal gait symptoms such as lameness, paw scuffing, bunny hopping or leg dragging are signs your dog is uncomfortable. There are many options for pain relief, both holistic and conventional so be sure to address the issue early on with your veterinarian. These symptoms can improve not only with medications and supplements but also with therapies like laser, acupuncture, acuscope and chiropractic.
