It’s hard not to cry when we think about the transforming effect assistance dogs can have on the people they serve. We all remember Sully the service dog loyally lying by President Bush’s casket The dedication and capabilities of these dogs is remarkable. Many people with service dogs have debilitating physical or mental disabilities and these dogs can give a person back their independence. Today is Assistance Dog Day, a day in which we recognize and honor the contributions of service dogs. Sending heartfelt thanks to all service dogs and their trainers today!
