Monday, August 26th is National Dog Day, a day to celebrate the special role dogs have in our lives. This observational holiday was created not only to show our appreciation for dogs but also to increase awareness of the plight of homeless and neglected dogs as well. It is also a wonderful opportunity to express our gratitude for working and military dogs.
Take time to give your dog with extra attention and a special treat. Celebrate the day, even if you don't have a dog by making a donation to a local shelter or rescue organization. You can also offer to open up your home to be a foster for a homeless dog. Of course, if you have been thinking of adopting, National Dog Day is a great to celebrate and welcome home a new family member!
