How To Help Your Pet In Their Senior Years

Do you have an older pet? It’s hard to see our pets slow down. Your once active pet may now have difficulty getting up the stairs or jumping on the couch. But there is so much you can do to help. These wonderful products are available at most pet stores and can help your pet feel so much more comfortable and happy.

* Raised food and water bowls: Raised food and water bowls can help elderly pets with mobility issues by reducing the amount of strain on their necks and backs while they eat and drink. Elevated bowls can also help pets with arthritis or joint pain to avoid bending down and putting pressure on their joints. Provide easy access to the litterbox and bowls.

* Non-slip flooring: Non-slip flooring can be helpful as it can reduce the risk of slipping and falling. If you have hardwood or tile floors, consider adding area rugs or non-slip mats to provide traction.

* Support harnesses and slings: Support harnesses and slings can be helpful by providing support and stability. These devices can help pets with arthritis, hip dysplasia, or other joint issues to get up and move around more easily.

* Ramps and stairs: Ramps and stairs can help your pet have access to high surfaces like beds, couches, or cars without having to jump or climb. Ramps and stairs can be especially helpful for dogs with arthritis or joint pain, as they can reduce the amount of pressure on their joints.

Senior Dog Finds Renewed Energy

Amy rescued her sweet Allie years ago. As Allie was getting older, she was starting to have a harder time doing the things she used to do:

"My sweet rescue dog Allie has always acted like a puppy. But now that she is getting close to 13 years, I noticed she was having difficulty getting into cars and climbing the stairs. I am very concerned about only giving Allie things that are good for her. I wanted to try something natural and didn’t want to use medication. I tried K9 CurcuMagic and am so happy with the results. Allie has more energy and is able to jump up on my bed again! She is having less problems with the stairs too." Amy, CA.

Why You Should Adopt A Senior Pet?

It’s so sad that wonderful adult pets are often overlooked in shelters. But you can change that. The truth is that love is ageless and adult pets are hidden gems! They already have life experience and maturity, making their transition to a home much easier. Adult pets are usually calmer, less destructive and low maintenance. With an adult pet, what you see is what you get! Their personality and size are already established, so there are no surprises. The best part is that adult pets seem to realize that they have been given a second chance and are loyal and grateful. Save a life and find a perfect pet by visiting

Making Life Easier For our Senior Pets

14-year-old Legend is “doing the ramp” his way. We have tried all kinds of ramps over the years. Most are either too narrow, too flimsy or the surface is slippery and the dogs won’t use it. What has made this one a winner is that it has a grass covering. Ramps save senior dogs from injuries and can protect their limbs, even if they could still jump in.

Ramps can be invaluable aids for senior dogs, providing a gentle and supportive means for them to get in and out of cars safely. As dogs age, they may experience joint issues, arthritis, or reduced mobility, making it challenging for them to navigate elevated surfaces like car seats. A ramp offers a gradual incline, minimizing the strain on their joints and muscles. It allows senior dogs to walk up or down at their own pace, reducing the risk of falls or injuries. Ramps come in various designs, including foldable and portable options, making them convenient for use during travel. By incorporating a ramp into a senior dog's routine, pet owners can promote independence, reduce stress, and enhance the overall well-being of their furry companions, ensuring that every car journey remains comfortable and accessible throughout their golden years.
