February Is National Pet Dental Health Month

February is National Pet Dental Health Month.  Oral disease is one of the most frequently diagnosed health problems for pets.  Many of us worry a great deal about our pet's health issues like arthritis and skin problems, but we don't pay enough attention to our pet's dental health. Left untreated, dental problems can lead to infections in other parts of your pet's body such as the kidneys or heart.

Some signs of dental disease:

  • Bad breath
  • Loose or discolored teeth or teeth covered in tartar
  • Pets not comfortable with you touching in or around the mouth
  • Drooling or dropping food from the mouth
  • Bleeding from the mouth
  • Loss of appetite or loss of weight
