Itching, Scratching, Licking Dog!!!

Q: My dog is itching, scratching and driving me nuts. I feel so sorry for him. He is a 4 year old yellow lab and his legs look red from chewing on himself. He has areas on his tummy that are BROWN. I take him to the vet, we put him on some medicines, and then within a few weeks he is scratching and itching again. Help!!

A: Right now, we are in the height of allergy season. The hot weather tends to make our dogs very itchy and they can scratch and chew and lick on themselves all day and all night. There are a lot of steps you can take to help your dog. First, be sure to bring your dog to the veterinarian to be treated for any fleas, parasites or infection. Be sure to put your dog on a hypoallergenic, grain-free diet. We don't recommend most dry kibble foods as they can promote yeast overgrowth. Instead try canned or raw and/or homemade.

There are a number of dog allergy supplements that will help too. For starters, try Amazing Omegas. This potent fish oil will work quickly to reduce inflammation, soften the skin and coat and improve your dog's allergies. It is a good idea to try some of our dog allergy formulas such as Proaller and Notatum and/or Bioallergies Plus. You can find an assortment of effective products for dog allergies on this link It is best to use a couple of dog allergy products together. Each product works differently and when you use a combination of formulas, you will have a much better chance of attaining success.
