Beautiful Tessie--We Will Miss You So Much

On October 11, 2008, we lost our beautiful Tessie. She was so sick and was having trouble breathing. That day was a beautiful day. We took Tessie for a lovely walk on the beach and then she came home and ate a few treats. We brought her to the veterinarian's office thinking it would just be a routine draining of the fluid that accumulated on her chest and abdomen. Tessie had responded so well to prednisone which we had started just a few days before, we were mistakingly hoping we would have a few more months. Tessie collapsed following the procedure and she went into congestive heart failure. We let our Tessie cross the rainbow bridge so she wouldn't suffer. We miss her terribly. The last few days have been filled with sorrow and grief. It is hard to believe that the dog we rescued from such a difficult life, only 3 1/2 years ago, is no longer with us. Darling Tessie--you were such a joy and we will miss you so much. You will always be in our heart. Mom and Dad
  1. Tessie was a wonderful dog and I am sure she is a good place. I will especially miss our little "dog talk" sessions that we had. She was so lucky to have you and for you to give her such care and love.

  2. I am sorry for your loss but Tessie knew she was loved in her final years and that made her life meaningful. I now only adopt shelter dogs (and I prefer the older ones that no one seems to want). We lost our 14yr old chow last october 22 and dec 1st adopted a 13yr old chow mix from a no-kill shelter. he had been there for almost 20mos. I had kept a newpaper article about him from Sept. of course no one looked at him - he had 3paws in the grave and 1 on the banana peel! he lived with us 14weeks and went home to be with my other passed furries. in that short time, you fall in love and they love you right back. I knew he felt loved and had finally found the home he wanted. the lady at the shelter told me - 'he waited for me'. There will never be another Tessie, but each one after brings a different touch to our lives that lives on forever!

You have our deepest condolences and we share your sadness.
As you know our Golden, Barkley, has lymphoma. He has undergone radiation for a mediastinal tumor, which helped; and he is now undergoing a second round of chemo. He is taking Prednisone, Elspar, and CCNU. At first he was fine and his lymph nodes went back to normal size, but after 10 days his WBC count dropped dramatically. Today, he couldn't walk and was obviously in pain. We called the vet, who prescribed pain medication. He is due to have a full blood work-up tomorrow, and we'll take it from there. His appetite is good, but his weight has dropped from 86 to 73 pounds - is there something we should be giving him to regain some of the lost weight? He is still on the cancer diet you prescribed and has been doing well until this last episode. We're hoping that we will have his happy, normal self around for a while longer.
Again, we are so very sorry for your loss.

  4. i'm so very sorry! I know how it feels. Know that Tessie is loved very much by God
